Religion: The Lutheran Catechesis Series by Concordia Catechetical Academy
Bible stories for daily prayer:
- Old Testament Stories
- New Testament Stories
- Church Year Stories
Memorization of Bible verses, Luther’s Small Catechism, and hymns related to the topics of study.
Mathematics: Saxon Math
Topics include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, time, money, measurement (customary & metric systems), geometry, decimals, fractions, statistics & graphing, ratios, proportions, percent, and positive/negative numbers.
Language Arts: Journey’s by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
A comprehensive program covering reading; decoding, vocabulary, and comprehension skills, grammar; parts of speech, punctuation and capitalization, spelling, and writing skills. The program is supplemented with other skill developing work from various sources. Novels as well are read that model good literature focusing on teaching literary, comprehension and vocabulary skills.
Social Studies: The History of Our United States by A Beka Book.
The book presents, from a Christian perspective, the history of the United States from the “The Years of Discovery” to a “Time for Freedom and Responsibility”. The book focuses on major historical events of the US which helped shaped our country. It also implores map study skills to learn the geography of the US.
Purposeful Design publication: A science textbook based on biblical truths. Level five explores topics such as; Life science: cycles, Physical science: Transformations, Earth and Space science: Predictability, and Human body: Balance. Level four explores topic such as; Life science: Stability, Physical science: Energy, Earth and Space science: Balance, and Human Body: Wellness. Along with reading the text, various labs are used to reinforce concepts taught.
